PELS: Application Information
To apply for the Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS) each applicant must submit:
- A completed application form endorsed by the agency chief executive;
- Resumé of the applicant (include work experience and education and training history);
- Agency organizational chart with the current position of the applicant clearly indicated;
- A letter of interest to the PELS Selection Committee indicating why he/she wants to attend PELS and the applicants goals and expectations of the program.
The selection process for this program is as follows:
- Completed application packets are to be mailed to the office of the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation. Faxed application packets will not be accepted.
- Applications received are submitted to the PELS Selection Committee at various intervals (generally the first week of each month).
- When the selection committee completes their review of the pending applications, applicants will be notified of the status of their application.
- Evaluation of each application will be based upon:
- applicant meeting the pre-requisites of the program;
- proper completion of the application;
- submission of all required attachments; and
- thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and professionalism demonstrated in letter of interest to the PELS Selection Committee.
Application Deadline:
An open enrollment process is utilized for this program. Applications will be received for each session sixty (60) days prior to the beginning of the session or until the class is filled.
