Certification and College Credit

The Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation and Virginia Tech will jointly award a certificate to those individuals who satisfactorily fulfill all of the course requirements. 

This program has been approved by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) for in-service training credits.  At the end of the program, pre-approved Partial In-Service Credit forms (DCJS Form PIC-3) will be distributed to those participants who fully complete all parts of the program. 

This program is also eligible for 3 hours of graduate or undergraduate college credits. To receive this credit, you must submit an enrollment application to Virginia Tech.  If you are accepted to Virginia Tech for this course as college credit, you must bring your acceptance letter with you on the first day of class.  A 15-page paper and additional reading will be required. An additional cost will be charged for the college credits and you will receive a separate invoice from Virginia Tech for the college credits.  For more information on college credit, please contact Sharon Scott at Virginia Tech at scottsg@vt.edu.

Location and Lodging

The program is offered on the campus of Virginia Tech. This is a residential program and all participants are required to live on campus and/or the designated housing facility.

Program Fee

The program cost is $1995. This fee covers on campus lodging (air conditioned dorm suites for summer and conference center for fall), meals, breaks, course materials, tuition, summer and fall reception, and graduation luncheon.

Scholarships

The Foundation is also pleased to announce that Philip Morris USA has provided funds for two scholarships for the 2008 session of ILCT. One scholarship is available to an applicant from under-represented groups, (e.g. African-American, Hispanic, etc.), and the other scholarship is available to an applicant from a small town agency of 25 or less authorized personnel.
