MEDIA RELATIONS SEMINAR
Media Relations is a two-day seminar for anyone responsible for media issues or who is called upon to interact with the media. This lively, informative session will provide valuable information in working with the media, ranging from routine matters to high-profile and crisis situations. The curriculum includes such topics as media role and trends, effective interview preparation, avoiding interview traps and pitfalls, strategies for proactive media relations, the role and function of the media relations officer, and conducting effective press conferences and briefings, among others.
This course is conducted by Jim Vance, who is currently an instructor of graduate studies in media relations and leadership communications at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and an adjunct faculty member of both the University of Virginia and University of Richmond. His career in public information and education spans over three decades.
