Executive Management In-Service Training

Due to budget cuts facing law enforcement agencies throughout Virginia, the format of the Executive Management In-Service Training was changed in 2009 to assist departments in meeting their training needs. The In-service Training was conducted during three separate one-day programs held in Roanoke, Williamsburg and Weyers Cave. Class sessions ran from 9 am to 4 pm each day and lunch was included. The agenda focused on Family Medical Leave Act, Personnel Issues, Cultural Diversity, Interoperability & Homeland Security, Legislative Update, Internal Affairs-Best Practices and Military Reinstatement. Also included on the agenda was a Chiefs Town Hall Meeting focusing on Immigration Issues and Off-duty Officer Involved Shooting. The training was very well received and requests have been made for the training to be held in a similar format for 2010.

The VACP/VPCF Training Committee is now in the process of planning the agenda for the 2010 Executive Management In-service Training.  This training is designed for chiefs, deputy chiefs and command staff.  Upcoming class dates and training information will be posted when available.
