First Line Supervisors Training School

The program has been designed for those individuals newly appointed or soon to be promoted to supervisory positions, and is most applicable to individuals who have had little or no prior supervisory training. This program is designed to assist officers in their transition to their new role as supervisor. Basic supervisory concepts will be presented that will serve as a foundation to enable each supervisor to identify some of the most critical components of supervision. In addition to classroom discussions, participants have an opportunity to network with other criminal-justice professionals during informal breaks and meals. The program is open to applicants from all public safety agencies, both in-state and out-of-state.
This training will be held at the Holiday Inn Express in Lexington, Virginia. Classes begin at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and end at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The dress code for this training is business casual (collared shirts, no jeans, closed-toe shoes).
Certification
This program has been approved by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) for Partial In-service Credit. Pre-approved DCJS PIC-3 Forms and certificates of completion will be distributed at the close of the training. Participants must attend a minimum of 4 hours to be eligible to receive credit.
Program Fee
The program fee is $500 per person and includes lodging, meals (beginning with lunch on Tuesday and ending with breakfast on Thursday), program tuition, course materials and break services.
Lodging
The program fee includes lodging for Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Lexington, Virginia. Lodging arrangements are made by the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation. If special accommodations are needed, please contact Stephanie Diaz at (804) 285-8227.
Cancellation Policy
If cancellation is received before September 17, 2010, you will be eligible for a partial refund, but assessed a $80 scheduling fee. No refund will be granted for any withdrawal notice received on after September 17, 2010. No-shows to the training are not eligible for refunds. Qualified substitutions are gladly accepted with prior approval.
