INTERNAL AFFAIRS INVESTIGATORS BASIC TRAINING SCHOOL

The Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation has partnered with the VA Internal Affairs Investigators Association (VIAIA) to provide an Internal Affairs Investigators Basic Training School. This three-day course has been designed for those individuals who have recently been assigned to Internal Affairs and is a great refresher course for those who have not received any formal IAI training. This is also a great opportunity to network with and seek assistance from other IA Investigators.

The 2013 Session is now being planned.

If you are interested in attending, please send an email to stephanie@vapolicefoundation.org

Program Information

The program is a three day program that runs from 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Classes will be held at the Henrico County Police Training Facility. Dress code is business casual, (collared shirts, no jeans, closed-toe shoes).

The curriculum includes: Ethics in Policing; Defining and Accepting Complaints; Inspections and Audits; The IA Investigative Process; Brady & Garrity Case Law Review; Polygraph Use in IA Investigations; and Use of Force Investigations.

Because the class size is limited, applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is encouraged!
