Senior Executive Leadership Forum (SELF)
Senior executives today are faced with many serious challenges as they lead their agencies. Budget reductions, resource allocation, and rising equipment costs, are just some of the issues presenting serious challenges to business and government leaders alike. The Senior Executive Leadership Forum (SELF) has been designed to enhance the business and personal leadership skills of those in executive positions. These skills will better enable leaders to face the many serious challenges of today.
Due to the budget issues facing our local and private agencies, we have decided to postpone the inaugural session until 2012.

Program Information
SELF will be offered as a one-week summer session, with a three-day follow-up session in the fall. The SELF program will offer an experiential learning initiative that challenges executive-level participants to examine competitive environments, select and implement a strategy, manage risk, and communicate the value proposition to effectively operate an organization in today’s complex globally-challenging environment.
The SELF program will match the business acumen learning with cutting edge leadership processes aimed at creating balanced relationships and a common language between public and private sector executives using a dynamic, business-based simulation that permits participants to practice business and leadership decisions in a team-centric experience. Different processes and styles reflected in private and public sectors will be explored. Active coaching sessions will be offered with certified executive coaches and team facilitators to help participants analyze and hone their own leadership traits.
Participants will apply what they have learned in Week One toward a “reality-based” initiative serving both private and public sectors. This participant-coordinated project will allow participants to use their leadership skills and business acumen to solve an issue or create an opportunity in the marketplace.
Classes will be held on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Classes are held from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. The first week of classes will be held in the early summer, with classes beginning on Sunday and ending on Friday. The second week of classes will be held in the fall, with classes beginning on Wednesday and ending on Friday. Individuals accepted to this program must be prepared to commit to this schedule. Attendees who do not live in the greater Richmond metropolitan area will be provided lodging in a local hotel within close proximity to the school.
